Soothing Golden Bedtime Milk

Sleep is still one of the leading reasons why people see their doctor!  Poor sleep continues to be a problem for many, be it falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking early and unrested.

In the meantime, here's a habitual bedtime drink with health boosting, inflammation reducing bennies, in addition to hopefully improving the quality of your zzzzz's.

 

Soothing Golden Milk

1 cup water

 1 cup coconut milk, pure, from can, not the sugared version in the cartons

1 tsp cinnamon or 1/2 cinnamon stick

1 tsp turmeric or slice of turmeric root

1 tsp ginger or slice of ginger

1/2 vanilla bean, or 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract made from vanilla bean

4-5 whole black peppercorns

2 Tsp honey

1 Tbsp coconut oil

Put everything together in a small pan, and allow to bring to a boil and then immediately reduce to simmer.  Allow mixture to simmer over 10 minutes.

Strain through a sieve or strainer and pour into mugs.  Can be kept in the fridge and best used up to 3 days after.
